The average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime. Therefore, it’s no surprise that your job can significantly impact your quality of life. Loving the work you do and where you do it are essential. Here are a few reasons why SparkCognition employees love their jobs and where they work.

The right cultural fit

Built In’s 2022 Best Places to Work awards recently recognized SparkCognition with three different awards in the Austin market: “Best Places to Work,” Best Paying Companies,” and “Best Midsize Companies to Work For.

Built In determines the winners of Best Places to Work based on an algorithm, using company data about compensation, benefits, companywide programming, remote and flexible work opportunities, programs for DEI, and other people-first cultural offerings. SparkCognition is proud to be recognized as one of the leaders driving innovation and opportunity for the Austin workforce and beyond. This honor is an excellent testament to the company and culture we have created.

Innovation and being up for the challenge

There is a fine line between being appropriately challenged and being pushed past your limits. Purposeful, challenging work fuels passion and engagement. On the other hand, being overly stressed disrupts your well-being, often leading to burnout and decreased morale and productivity. We encourage innovation by creating an environment where it’s safe to express ideas and make suggestions. DevOps Manager Firasath Mahboob shared, “SparkCognition has grown so much, but there is still more to come — so there is no shortage of opportunities to enhance existing processes and implement new ones. I am encouraged to present new ideas and challenge existing ones, and I enjoy the ability to influence the culture of the DevOps team.”

Opportunities for career growth

Professional growth is critical to driving engagement and team member retention. At SparkCognition, employees are encouraged to move upwards internally to advance their careers.

Communications Manager Cara Schwartzkopf joined SparkCognition as a communications intern in 2018. Her skill, dedication, and work ethic forged a path to communications coordinator in 2019, then communications specialist, working her way up to communications manager in 2021.

“I’ve been lucky to jump-start my career at SparkCognition—from day one, I was truly accepted as part of the team and my opinion valued,” Schwartzkopf said. “The range of projects at SparkCognition not only keeps the work interesting, but allows for significant professional growth. The people are simultaneously the smartest and friendliest people you’ll ever encounter, and it’s an amazing feeling to step back at the end of a day and see the real-world impact your work has on some of the world’s most complex problems.”
