Austin tech companies made several big announcements last week, including one business getting its horn and five others being named as up-and-coming startups to watch this year in Built In’s Future 5. See what these companies are up to and who is hiring. This is the Built In Austin weekly refresh.

Here are 5 Austin tech startups to watch. 2021 was a big year for Austin startups and the city is keeping up with that momentum this year. Five startups are gaining attention for their innovations and changes to the tech scene. The five featured for this quarter include ride-sharing startup Fetii, healthtech company Flourish, a fitness app called Ladder, HR software platform ThisWay Global and mentorship software The Mentor Method. [Built In Austin]

Portnox gained $22M. Portnox’s cloud-native network and security products aim to make IT professionals’ lives easier. The company, which recently opened its global headquarters in Austin, raised $22 million in a Series A round led by Elsewhere Partners. The funding round will allow Portnox to accelerate its global market reach and expand its team across departments. [Business Wire]

SparkCognition got $123M. SparkCognition raised a $123 million Series D round, bringing its valuation to $1.4 billion. The newly minted tech unicorn is an Austin-based company providing AI solutions to several global industries. SparkCognition also has a government subsidiary to focus entirely on government and defense. First Dollar raised $14M. The Austin-based fintech company provides customers with a First Dollar card allowing them to easily use their FSA, HSA and HRA benefits. First Dollar raised a $14 million Series A round led by Blue Venture Fund, with other existing investors participating.
